The National Special Education Congress continues to be an academic platform that, through its annually determined themes, brings prominent scientific discussions in the field of special education to the forefront and reflects the direction of the field’s development. Previous congresses addressed topics such as the relationship between research and practice, the quality of inclusive education practices, and the effectiveness of special education services; these discussions have created a significant scientific body of knowledge in terms of how knowledge produced in the field of special education translates into practice.
The 36th National Special Education Congress, as a continuation of this academic accumulation, aims to critically discuss the relationship between prominent theoretical and practical developments in the international literature and research and practice processes in Turkey, under the theme “Contemporary Discussions in Special Education: Global Trends, National Realities.”
In this context, the congress will address the following key topics within a scientific and critical framework:
- The quality of evidence-based practices
- The effectiveness of inclusive education processes
- Individualized education programs
- Transition services and life outcomes
- Quality of life and social participation
- Special education service models
- Teacher competencies
- The effects of digital transformation on special education
In this regard, the 36th National Special Education Congress aims to strengthen the integration between scientific knowledge production and practice processes in the field of special education, and to establish a strong academic foundation for critical, evidence-based discussions that will guide the development of the field.
